Terms and conditions

1. About these terms

These terms apply to every quote, order and installation by Smart Signboard ("we", "us"), of Office 107, Oasis Mall, Al Quoz 1, Dubai, UAE. If a written quote or contract we have signed with you says something different, that document takes priority for that project.

2. Surveys and quotes

• Site surveys in Dubai are free and place you under no obligation to order.
• A quote is valid for 30 days from its date unless it says otherwise.
• A quote covers only the items, sizes, materials and quantities listed in it. Anything else is priced separately.
• Prices shown on this website are starting prices and guides. Your written quote is the price that applies.
• All prices are quoted before 5% VAT, which is added to the invoice.

3. Placing an order

An order is confirmed when you approve the quote and the design mockup in writing (email, WhatsApp or your online account) and we receive the advance payment. Production is scheduled from that point.

4. Payment

• A 50% advance is payable to confirm the order.
• The remaining 50% is due when the sign is installed, or when it is ready for collection or delivery if we are not installing it.
• For larger or staged projects, a different payment schedule may be set out in the quote.
• Government, authority, landlord and mall fees for permits and approvals are charged at cost and are payable in addition to the quoted price.
• The sign and all materials remain our property until the invoice is paid in full.

5. Design and artwork

• We prepare the design mockup and production drawings from the information you give us.
• Please check the mockup carefully. Once you approve it, you are responsible for the spelling, wording, colours and sizes shown, including the Arabic and English trade name.
• You confirm that you have the right to use any logo, name, image or trademark you ask us to reproduce.
• Colours on a screen and in a mockup are a guide. Finished materials and lighting can look slightly different.
• Our designs and drawings remain ours until the order is paid for, and may not be passed to another maker to produce.

6. Permits and approvals

• Where a sign needs a permit or a landlord or mall approval, we prepare the drawings and submit the application for you.
• You provide the documents the authority asks for, such as your trade licence, tenancy contract and landlord no-objection certificate.
• Approval decisions and timings are made by the authority or landlord and are outside our control. A delay or a requested change by them is not a delay by us.
• If an authority or landlord requires a change to an approved design, we will revise it and tell you of any change in price before continuing.

7. Lead times

Lead times on this website and in quotes are estimates. They start once the design is approved, the advance is received and any permit is issued. We will tell you promptly if a date has to move.

8. Installation

• You arrange safe access to the site at the agreed time, including any building, mall or gate passes and permitted working hours.
• Unless the quote says otherwise, you provide a working power supply point at the sign position.
• Walls and structures must be sound enough to carry the sign. If we find a problem on site, we will stop and agree a solution with you.
• Removal of an existing sign, making good of walls, access equipment beyond what was quoted, and return visits caused by the site not being ready are charged separately.

9. Warranty

Our signs carry a 1-year warranty on materials and workmanship from the installation or delivery date. Within that period we will repair or replace faulty parts at no charge.

• The warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, impact, misuse, vandalism, cleaning with unsuitable products, or work on the sign by anyone other than us.
• It does not cover faults caused by the building's electrical supply, power surges or water ingress from the building.
• It does not cover normal wear, or gradual fading of colours in outdoor conditions.
• Items supplied by you, and signs not paid for in full, are not covered.

10. Changes and cancellations

• Changes requested after you approve the design may affect the price and the lead time. We will confirm both before making the change.
• If you cancel an order after it is confirmed, we charge for the design work done and the materials bought or cut for your sign. This is taken from the advance, and any remainder is refunded.
• Custom-made signs cannot be returned or refunded once made, unless they are faulty or not as approved.

11. Photos of our work

We may photograph completed signs and show them in our portfolio and on this website. If you would prefer that we do not show your project, tell us and we will not.

12. Our responsibility

We are responsible for making and installing the sign with reasonable skill and care and in line with the approved design. Our total liability for any one order is limited to the price paid for that order, and we are not liable for loss of business or other indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Using this website and your account

• Information on this website is general guidance. Rules, fees and prices change, and we confirm what applies to your project at the survey.
• Keep access to your email secure, since sign-in codes are sent there. Tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
• How we handle your personal information is explained in our privacy policy.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute.
